Idealism

Sometimes, days are so dark, and news is so bad I don’t even dare writing them down, in fear that words could make them even more visible, more concrete, when just the idea alone is already terrifying.

Describing the darkness of the world and the abysses in which humanity is drowning provokes in me a spike of adrenaline and a sorrow I cannot control. I then must shape into a ruthless pessimist, a fake self to fool and protect myself from my own madness.

Nonetheless, if we believe the quantic physics, which says everything is vibration, even ideas, then, thoughts have that wonderful yet treacherous potential, to be able to bring to us what we think about the most. Ruminating about climate change and conflict in Ukraine would then nourish this cloud of terror and hatred when it should be cleverer for us to focus our energy and thoughts on something good, that we truly desire, instead of something we fear. This way, we would raise our chances to one day see the light. In other words, the law of attraction but to a bigger scale.

I know it is a bit bold of me to suggest that to you, considering I have a PhD in the science of rumination and anxiety. But tonight, I want to try something new: swim up steam to write about love in its purest beauty, instead of the dissected hell I which I usually bathe.

We often mock the aspiring Pageant girls, when they arrive on stage swearing their wish for the world to be a better place, hoping for peace. It might be naïve, utopic, and completely unrealistic: the one watching that doesn’t need a degree in sociology to know Men need wars. They are vain, in a constant search for a big enough power that could hide their insecurities of being human. This system is so ancient, they simply don’t know how to do differently.

No one can take power on the simple basis of being a good person. Manipulations, political games and corruptions are the bases of what power is today, and it would be idiotic to delude ourselves. Yet, tonight, if I had to visualize what I wish for the world, I would say, without a hint of hesitation : peace.

Peace in the soul of each and every one of us, any human being, any living thing, and the necessary liberty to listen to our own desires, without any frustration, without any social injunction, without any of the things that darken humans’ heart.

Idealism? Yes, but if I have to visualize paradise, I might as well go big.

I hope for civilizations and societies to live in respect of one another, without trying to convince their neighbors that their beliefs are more valuable. Societies that understand that large scale hierarchy is counterproductive, that it is cleverer to bet on a more humanist system that would put their people’s wellness first. Because a plant that is properly watered contribute to a verdurous and bright garden. Thinking of the human being in their individuality without trying to brainwash them, so they can bloom and play their part.

Educate children with kindness, altruism, respect, principle of sharing, and empathy instead of trying to conform them to a unilateral way of thinking, continuing trying to force circles into squares.

Teaching children to think by themselves, so they can develop a critical spirit and therefore offering them the opportunity to actually have an opinion.

On that base, I allow myself the fantasy of catching a glimpse of peace in the world. I want ecosystem preservation and respect for all species. Whatever the plant, rock, turtle or wolf, every single species should benefit from respect and understanding that its life is as valuable as ours. And this is just the principle “let them live”. Give the opportunity to nature to live by its own rhythm and cycle without human’s interference and let the human face themselves to better understand who he is, so he can elevate. Without hatred, without fear, without the darkness. Give the opportunity to each of us to see our own inner light, leading the world to such a bright place it could intimidate heaven, giving up the idea that man brought hell on earth.

Isn’t it simple? Simple, because appreciating life should be, and we made very complicated.
